Lions Clubs of Multiple District 36, Oregon and Northern California

We Serve

Lions of Oregon & Northern California are a part of an international network of 1.4 million men and women in 200 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Lions are best known for working to end preventable blindness, the giving of eyeglasses and hearing aids for the needy and local service projects.

Mission Statement of Lions Clubs International:

"To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation."

Environmental/ Family and Friends/Leo Club awareness Month

Lions have assigned April as ‘Environmental/ Family and Friends/Leo Club awareness Month’.  And it’s time to start getting your garden in order and that is in line with the Environmental part of April theme, planting trees and Highway clean up.  Getting your family and neighbors involved with projects and the good feeling you get by doing these projects, and be sure to ask them to Become a Lion.  In 36E we have 4 Leos Clubs, what a great way to nurture responsibility in the community.  They are helping with eye screening, highway clean-ups, and helping others in their schools.  What better way to get these young adults to become Lions and serve others?

Convention time is in full swing with our District E having a successful Convention in Central Point in March. I enjoyed our Guest Speakers among them, Past International President Brian Sheehan and his wife Lori, Brian went over the importance of Mission 1.5 for the growth of Lions and our ability to help others throughout the World. District O had a good Convention in Milwaukie, District G is this month in Hood River.  Conventions are fun and you always learn something there to bring home.

This month is when the Clubs should be putting together the Officers for the coming year and the slate of Officers need to be submitted to Lions International and our MD office in May.  Please keep an open mind and volunteer as an officer in your Club and in the District, you can make a difference. The Lions web site has some great training programs and can explain what duties the offices have.

Will you not help me hasten the day when there shall be no preventable blindness; no little deaf, blind child untaught; no blind man or woman unaided? I appeal to you Lions, you who have your sight, your hearing, you who are strong and brave and kind. Will you not constitute yourselves Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness?
