Lions Clubs of Multiple District 36, Oregon and Northern California

We Serve

Lions of Oregon & Northern California are a part of an international network of 1.4 million men and women in 200 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Lions are best known for working to end preventable blindness, the giving of eyeglasses and hearing aids for the needy and local service projects.

Mission Statement of Lions Clubs International:

"To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation."

“Forward! Upward! Onward!”

I ran across this article a couple of years ago and really liked it.  The more that I read it, the more I recognize how well it expresses my motto of “Forward!  Upward!  Onward!”

 The Lions of Today

We, the Lions, to continue the proud tradition of Lionism in our

community, our nation, and our world, must become

 THE LIONS OF TODAY

As THE LIONS OF TODAY, we must...

◦              Be proud of our past, but NOT STUCK IN THE PAST.

◦              EMBRACE CHANGE.

◦              Ask our community "How can WE SERVE you?"

◦              Have a positive "CAN-DO" attitude.

◦              Show KINDNESS to everyone we meet.

◦              PUSH FORWARD in spite of nay-sayers.

◦              LEAD BY EXAMPLE.

◦              CARE about our community, our nation, and our world.

◦              Take the initiative.

◦              ENCOURAGE, NURTURE and LISTEN to our fellow Lions.

◦              REACH OUT to people from all walks of life.

TOGETHER WE CAN and TOGETHER WE WILL

become THE LIONS OF TODAY!

Will you not help me hasten the day when there shall be no preventable blindness; no little deaf, blind child untaught; no blind man or woman unaided? I appeal to you Lions, you who have your sight, your hearing, you who are strong and brave and kind. Will you not constitute yourselves Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness?
