Lions Clubs of Multiple District 36, Oregon and Northern California

We Serve

Lions of Oregon & Northern California are a part of an international network of 1.4 million men and women in 200 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Lions are best known for working to end preventable blindness, the giving of eyeglasses and hearing aids for the needy and local service projects.

Mission Statement of Lions Clubs International:

"To create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation."

It Is a Great Time to Start Thinking About Activities That Lions Can Do Indoors

As the weather turns cold and wet, it is a great time to start thinking about activities that Lions can do indoors in the comfort of your home.  There are a lot of resources available online but for those without a computer or internet access, a club could talk about some of these at a meeting in lieu of a speaker or program.

Some examples:

Lions University, which is a part of the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum, is a fun and engaging online program that offers classes on specific topics.  When you complete so many classes, you’ll qualify for a degree and if you attend a USA/Canada Forum, you can participate in a graduation ceremony where you will be honored by the International President.  The classes could also double as an orientation program for newer Lions. Check it out:  https://lionsuniversity.org/

The Lions Member Resource Center through LCI is a wealth of information that is organized by topic.  It covers everything from leadership training resources, information about our global causes, LCIF, helpful tools for marketing/public relations, and so much more.  You can go to lionsclubs.org and click on Members Resource Center.  Here is the direct link:  https://www.lionsclubs.org/en/member-resource-center.

Google is great when you need inspiration, for an activity, fundraiser, tail twister ideas, etc.  I use it all the time when I need help and by using Google, I find information from Lions clubs all over the world.  I have come across some really fun ideas that I would never in a million years would have on my own!

Finally, use social media like Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.  I know there is a lot of negativity out there about social media, but it really can be used for good.  For Lions related pages, you should check out the Global Lions Forum and the Lions Portal Group on Facebook.  Both are a wealth of information and allow you to engage with fellow Lions and staff at LCI.

When it comes to learning more about Lions, there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Use technology to help your club grow, in membership and leadership!

Will you not help me hasten the day when there shall be no preventable blindness; no little deaf, blind child untaught; no blind man or woman unaided? I appeal to you Lions, you who have your sight, your hearing, you who are strong and brave and kind. Will you not constitute yourselves Knights of the Blind in this crusade against darkness?
